SMS and Khon Kaen University Sign MOU for Advanced Research on Resistant Starch and Functional Foods
On January 24, 2025, SMS Corporation Co., Ltd., under the leadership of Dr. Werawat Letwanawattana (Director & Chief Executive Officer), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic collaboration with Khon Kaen University, represented by Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University. The signing ceremony, a significant milestone in fostering academic and industrial synergy, at Khon Kaen University and was attended by researchers from both organizations as witnesses.
The National Phenome Institute at Khon Kaen University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, brings expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technology to investigate the molecular-level nutritional benefits of resistant starch. On the other hand, SMS Corporation, led by Dr. Siwarut Boonyarattanakalin, focuses on exploring the fiber's health benefits, prebiotic functions, and its application as a functional food ingredient.
This partnership is expected to strengthen the academic and technical capabilities of both organizations, paving the way for impactful research projects and innovative advancements. The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to driving progress in health-oriented product development while enhancing the value of Thailand's cassava industry.
